Almond Cinnamon Rolls With Mascarpone Sauce

These cinnamon rolls are amazing and your family will be asking for them often!
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ⅓ cup chopped almonds
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 lb. biscuit dough
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons mascarpone cheese
  • 1 tablespoon milk

  1. Add almonds, brown sugar, cinnamon to bowl and mix well.
  2. Roll out biscuit dough to form a 12″ x 9″ rectangle.
  3. Brush dough with 1 tablespoon melted butter.
  4. Spread almond mixture over dough leaving a ½” border on the sides.
  5. Roll up the dough from the long side to form a log. Pinch the ends to seal the dough.
  6. Cut lengthwise into 8 equal pieces.
  7. Add rolls to greased 8″ x 8″ pan, cover and allow to sit for 45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 325 degree.
  9. Add rolls to oven and bake 25 minutes until tops are golden brown.
  10. Meanwhile, add powdered sugar, mascarpone and milk to bowl. Whisk until smooth.
  11. Brush remaining 1 tablespoon butter over tops of rolls, and drizzle with mascarpone sauce.

    When you’re in Albuquerque, make sure you grab a meal at The Frontier and be sure to order one of their famous sweet rolls. I don’t know if it stlrtciy qualifies as a cinnamon roll, but it is very good.I also recommend the breakfast burrito, smothered with salsa from the big black pots near the pickup counter, an extra side of hash browns, and their fresh OJ.And don’t worry about making it for breakfast, they serve all of that 24 hours.
