This delicious cake can be served warm and also at room temperature.
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • 5 tablespoons whole milk
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • ¾ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 granny smith apple, cored, peeled, cut into small pieces

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Add 3 cups flour, salt, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, 2 eggs, 2 teaspoons vanilla, 1½ cup milk to electric mixer and mix well.
  3. Set mixer to medium-low speed and add ½ cup melted butter just until combined.
  4. Pour mixture into greased baking pan and gently shake until smooth.
  5. In medium bowl add ¾ cup softened butter, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and cinnamon and mix well.
  6. Evenly drop heaping spoonfuls of cinnamon mixture on cake batter. Add apple pieces over top.
  7. Using a knife gently drag through cake so that cinnamon mixture and apples are randomly mixed with batter.
  8. Cook cake for 45 – 55 minutes until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  9. In medium bowl add powdered sugar, 5 tablespoons milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Whisk well and then drizzle over top of cake.
