What better to have with a cup of coffee then this delicious cheesy comfort food. This is a great way to use bread that has become stale.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf crusty bread
- 8 eggs, beaten
- 1½ cups milk
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
- 1½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parsley flakes
Instructions
- Preheat over to 350 degrees.
- Slice bread lengthwise in half and place at bottom of 7 x 11 baking pan.
- In large bowl add eggs, milk, whipping cream and mix well.
- Pour mixture over bread so liquid completely covers bread (add a little more milk if necessary).
- Sprinkle cheese over top and season with salt and pepper.
- Allow to sit for 5 minutes.
- Add to oven and cook for 30 minutes until cheese is golden brown.
- Garnish with parsley flakes and serve.
